Academic Classes

Uniquely You currently offers math, science, and writing academic classes for students in grades 2 - 8.  Younger students attend a weekly class that supplements their language arts, math, and science learning with hands on activities and games.  Older students take courses designed to teach the entire curriculum with more frequent class sessions.

Math Classes:

Math doesn't have to be frustrating or scary.  At Uniquely You, we believe every child can understand and even enjoy math—with the right approach.  Our math classes are designed to build confidence, not just skills.  We use visual, hands-on strategies and real-world examples to make abstract concepts click. We focus on progress, not pressure—because when kids feel safe and supported, real learning happens.

Math courses for students in grades K - 6 run on a six week long cycle.  Each six week session has a different topic, such as number sense, fractions/decimals/percents, geometry, probability, measurement, etc... Students meet for an hour each week to learn about topics through hands on activities, group work, discussions, and independent exploration.

Algebra 1 is for students in grades 7, 8, and 9.  Algebra 1 units are of varying length, but students meet for a total of 4 hours per week.  Units covered in the Algebra 1 class include algebraic equations and inequalities, simplifying algebraic expressions, writing/graphing/solving linear functions, factoring, geometry, systems of equations, fractions/decimals/percents, probability, and statistics.

Writing Classes:

Writing is more than putting words on a page--it's a powerful way for kids to express themselves, organize their thoughts, and find their voice.  Our writing classes focus on building strong, confident writers through engaging, purposeful instruction.  We help students develop essential skills like sentence structure, grammar, and paragraph writing while encouraging creativity and self-expression.  For reluctant writers, we make the process fun and approachable. For advanced writers, we offer structure and inspiration.  When kids are given the tools—and the freedom—to express themselves, amazing things happen.

Writing courses for students in grades 2 - 5 run on a six week long cycle.  Each six week session has a different topic, such as creating writing, persuasive writing, poetry, research writing, etc... Students meet for an hour each week to learn about topics through hands on activities, group work, discussions, and independent exploration.

Science Classes:

Spark curiosity and ignite a love for science in a fun, hands-on environment! Our small group science sessions are designed for students in grades 2–6 to explore exciting topics through experiments, interactive activities, and real-world connections. With group sizes kept small, each child receives personalized attention and plenty of opportunities to ask questions, collaborate, and discover how science works in everyday life. Whether your child is a budding biologist, curious chemist, or just loves to learn, these sessions make science come alive!

Learning in the early years is about more than mastering skills—it’s about building curiosity, confidence, and a love of discovery. Our K–2 homeschool drop-off program, Foundations & Fun, brings reading, writing, math, and science to life through engaging, hands-on activities and purposeful instruction built around meaningful themes. We help children strengthen foundational skills while encouraging questions, creativity, and problem-solving. For emerging learners, lessons are supportive and approachable. For students ready for more, we offer gentle challenges that inspire deeper thinking. When kids are given the tools—and the space—to explore and learn together, meaningful growth happens.

Learning in the upper elementary years is about building independence while continuing to nurture curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning. Explore & Grow, our weekly enrichment program for students in grades 3 - 5, offers a rich blend of math, science, reading, and writing through theme-based instruction that connects subjects in meaningful ways, paired with hands-on projects, creative expression, and meaningful social connection. Students are encouraged to think critically, ask thoughtful questions, and apply their skills in engaging, real-world ways. Instruction is designed to meet learners where they are—supporting those who need reinforcement while offering deeper challenges for students ready to stretch their thinking. With time to collaborate, create, and explore together, students grow academically, socially, and as confident learners.
